Surface Builder is a sophisticated tool tailored for crafting control surfaces that efficiently dispatch MIDI data to one or more audio components, streamlining remote control functionalities. The process initiates by formulating a surface of specific dimensions, incorporating buttons, knobs, faders, and other elements onto the canvas, subsequently configuring them to generate the requisite MIDI output. Its wide range of capabilities includes the ability to transmit note on/off signals, controller adjustments, and program change values while also offering support to emulate modulation wheel and pitch bend data. Moreover, buttons can be customized to send bulk MIDI data effortlessly with a single keystroke. Users can seamlessly create surfaces spanning across multiple scenes, establishing interconnections among them to construct intricate and expansive interfaces.

Moreover, Surface Builder facilitates the integration of incoming MIDI data for controlling or activating various interface components, thereby providing a bidirectional stream of MIDI information. The tool can be employed either as a dedicated MIDI plugin to handle MIDI exclusively or as an instrument plugin, empowering users to process audio signals passing through it. Notably, Surface Builder permits loading as an instrument and configuring a surface to facilitate manual or remote initiation and cessation of audio clips.

Designed primarily as an AUv3 plugin intended for seamless integration within popular DAW environments, Surface Builder also offers standalone functionality enabling direct transmission of MIDI signals to hardware through access to respective MIDI ports.

The tool extends support for numerous object types such as buttons, switches, lights, knobs, faders, sliders, XY-Pad controls, keyboards, in addition to text, image, and rectangular objects. Each object boasts diverse styles and color schemes to ensure unique and personalized surface designs.

Conveniently drag and drop audio files onto buttons for instant clip playback functionality. Attach rotary knobs for regulating volume and panning of clips while incorporating LP/HP filter controls for enhanced effects manipulation. For enhanced customization options, users can adorn buttons with PNG transparent image icons to refine aesthetics.

A distinctive feature allows buttons to capture and replay bulk MIDI commands upon both keypress and release actions. This functionality enables users to trigger complex musical arrangements or effects effortlessly.

Further enhancing flexibility in design creation, each surface can encompass up to 6 scenes to accommodate intricate layouts. Buttons and switches facilitate seamless scene transitions while also enabling the display or concealment of other elements for efficient space utilization. Post completion of designing tasks, users can switch to presentation mode eliminating distracting toolbars for a streamlined interface experience. Furthermore, each surface can be saved with compressed audio and images bundled into a single surface file.
